@Lesley I think that if she's willing to deal with him, they'd be pleased. Don't think they're in a position to picky (and they know it).
@Cindy, I'm rooting for Andi!
So, now it's Nikki's turn to meet Juan Pablo's family. Do you think she has an advantage going last?
@Lesley if you loved a man who left at the first sign of trouble, would you hold the relationship together with a length of rope? (I think Clare said YES to some version of that question)
@Gregory.Krieg: I'm still confused by what that question meant anyway. They're sure he'll try to run?
Nikki's nervous to meet the family because she "wants to make an good impression" and it's "important that they like me." She brought flowers -- that's a good first step, yeah?
@Lesley It seems that way. Sure enough that they felt the need to bring it up. Repeatedly.
@Mel, Right. Plus, she just got engaged.
"He's not an easy guy," Juan Pablo's dad told Nikki. "He's very specific in what he wants." They're being so, so honest.
@Mel I thought the same thing! I wonder what he'd think if he heard that. (But, at the same time, his dad is so charming that it was almost sweet?)
So much like my own childhood! Activities. Games. Watching TV. So forth.
I feel like Nikki is hitting it off with his family more than Clare did. "If he chose this good, I think she's going to say yes," Juan Pablo's mom said.
"How much fighting can you take? Because Juan Pablo, I love the guy, he's a really great guy, but sometimes when things are getting rough, he walks away from the relationship. How will you deal with that?" Juan Pablo's relative asked Nikki. "I feel like we'd fight well together," she responded. This is... different than most meeting the family dates!
@Mel, I agree. And she seemed more comfortable with them too!
@Lyn, @Mel: I completely agree. Do you think he'd care if he knew that that's what they were saying?
OK, to recap: Both Nikki and Clare have met Juan Pablo's family in St. Lucia. They both had similar conversations with his relatives, who seemed to tell both of them that he can be overly honest and stubborn. Clare said she appreciates his honesty; Nikki said they'd fight well. SO: Who's the better fit? And who did you think his family liked best?
I can't post the original phrasing here, as this is a family liveblog, but a person on Twitter has suggested that JP's dad has known war... and love. I tend to agree.
@Brai Oh wow. Can you imagine?
