officiating in football always ruins it. too many judgement calls, you don't give a penalty in that situation, that's ridiculous, cost a team a well earned spot to advance.

It was a penalty, people. Devastating call I know but call it for what it is. Ivorian defender should have kept his composure.

in that situation, it needs to be stonewall and that wasn't stonewall, Ivory Coast got hosed but it their own fault for not getting out of this group especially after winning the first match.

Sickening calls today.. One is a bite and one is a horriBLY called PENALTY that was no PK! It was no PK and it was no way to treat a player.

At first glance, I believed it was a pen, I admit. But upon further review, he tripped himself to make it look like Sio clipped him. Should not have been a pen, but we have replay.

NO Sio's knee hit Samaras as he was lining up to take it which is what caused his foot to catch his heel. Ref had no choice defient Penalty

That was a harsh penalty. The defender is behind and makes no contact, Samaras just clipped the ground. But the official was terrible all game.

He didn't trip. The slow-mo showed that the Ivorian clearly clipped his shooting leg as he was about to pull the trigger.

no choice? There are dozens of identical incidents in that area that could be called a PK, it wouldn't have been anything had he not called it because it wasn't egregious or intentional or anything like that. It's a ticky tack call and he directly changed the outcome of that game.

in the final minutes, you don't make calls that will affect the outcome, that's officiating 101. Unless it's blatant, and malicious, you don't call the borderline plays.
