Seth Meyers is off to a great start: "This year we're doing the Emmys on a Monday night in August, which if I understand television, means the Emmys are about to get canceled!" he said.
"Tonight we are all Crazy Eyes [from OITNB]" - Seth, nice!!
"HBO is like the kid you grew up with that ended up doing way better than you expected ... 99 nominations .... 'One day I'm going to make a show about dragons' he says ... okay buddy best of luck!" - Seth
Seth Meyers just introduced Amy Poehler as "my beautiful, amazing and talented friend, Beyonce." (To be fair, she's in a sparkly gown and everybody loves her?) She's announcing best supporting actor in a comedy.
The nominees are:
Andre Braugher, "Brookiyn Nine-Nine"
Adam Driver, "Girls"
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, "Modern Family"
Ty Burrell, "Modern Family"
Fred Armisen, "Portlandia"
Tony Hale, "Veep"
The winner is... Ty Burrell, "Modern Family"!
"I'm so grateful for this award and I can't wait to give it to [my TV son]
Nolan Gould," was how he ended his speech.
I sort of love that Allison Williams is friends with Seth Meyers in real life. (She and Zooey Deschanel are announcing outstanding writing in a comedy series!)
And the winner is ... Louis C.K.
Jimmy Kimmel said he doesn't believe that Matthew McConaughey owns a TV. (Don't you sort of agree?) "You just won the Oscar five months ago," he said. "How many of those little speeches are we supposed to sit through? ... All right, all right, all right already!"
And the winner is ... Allison Janney, "Mom"
And the Emmy goes to ..."Modern Family"
Bryan Cranston is taking the stage with Julia Louis Dreyfus, who looks unbelievably stunning. They're presenting best lead actor in a comedy! The nominees are:
Jim Parsons, "The Big Bang Theory"
Ricky Gervais, "Derek"
Matt LeBlanc, "Episodes"
Don Cheadle, "House of Lies"
Louis C.K., "Louie"
William H. Macy, "Shameless"
And the winner is ... Jim Parsons, "The Big Bang Theory"
Jim Parsons is giving one of the most heartfelt speeches we've heard tonight. Addressing his fellow nominees, he said, "I see you people doing things that I couldn't do, I see people doing things that I wouldn't do," he said. "There's no accounting for taste." Then he thanked his late father. Very sweet.
And the Emmy goes to ... Julia Louis Dreyfus, "Veep"
In the most epic makeout in Emmys history, Bryan Cranston grabbed Julia Louis Dreyfus on her way to the stage and kissed her on the lips for, well, a very long time. "Yeah, he was on Seinfeld!" she quipped.
John Mulaney and Mindy Kaling are presenting best reality-competition program, and the nominees are:
"The Amazing Race"
"So You Think You Can Dance"
"Dancing with the Stars"
And the winner is... "The Amazing Race"! This is the show's tenth win in the category.
And the Emmy goes to "Sherlock"
We're waiting to hear who will win best supporting actress in a miniseries or movie...
Frances Conroy, "American Horror Story: Coven"
Kathy Bates, "American Horror Story: Coven"
Angela Bassett, "American Horror Story: Coven"
Allison Tolman, "Fargo"
Ellen Burstyn, "Flowers In the Attic"
Julia Roberts, "The Normal Heart"
